AddisRealty (operated by Addis Digital Ventures, Bole Sub-City, Addis Ababa) takes your privacy seriously. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have under the Ethiopian Personal Data Protection Proclamation No. 1321/2024.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: name, phone number, email, and (where you sign in with Google) a Google profile identifier.
- Listing & agent data: for property listings and agent profiles β titles, descriptions, prices, photos, neighbourhood, license number, contact channels (WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram), and verification documents you upload.
- Usage data: pages viewed, listings saved or contacted, search filters used, and approximate device info (browser, OS, referring URL). We use this to improve search ranking and detect spam, never to fingerprint individuals.
- Optional inquiry data: mortgage inquiries you submit include the bank, property, employment type, and rough monthly-income estimate you provide. SMS confirmations are sent via AfricasTalking.
2. How we use it
- To run the platform β show you listings, save your searches, and let you contact agents.
- To verify agents (license number + Kebele ID) before publishing their listings.
- To send transactional messages: OTP codes, listing alerts, mortgage-inquiry confirmations.
- To debug, prevent fraud, and comply with Ethiopian law.
We do not sell your data and we do not run third-party advertising networks on AddisRealty.
3. Sharing
We share information only with the parties strictly required to deliver the service:
- Agents you contact: when you submit a lead, the agent sees your name, phone, message, and the listing in question.
- Banks for mortgage inquiries: name, phone, email, property amount, requested loan, term, and employment / income summary go to the bank you selected.
- Service providers: Supabase (database + auth), Cloudinary (images), AfricasTalking (SMS), Mapbox (maps), Vercel (hosting). Each is bound by their own privacy commitments.
4. Your rights
Under Proclamation No. 1321/2024 you have the right to access, correct, export, and delete your personal data. From your account you can:
- Update your profile, listings, and saved searches at any time.
- Request a full data export β every row tied to your account in a machine-readable file. Email invest@addisdigital.et and we'll send it within 30 days.
- Request hard deletion. We will remove identifiable data and anonymise statistical records within 30 days, except where retention is required by Ethiopian law (e.g. tax records).
5. Cookies & tracking
We use a small number of first-party cookies for sign-in sessions, language preference (adv_lang), and saved-search / recently-viewed memory. We do not use cross-site tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.
6. Data retention
Account data is kept while your account is active and for up to 12 months after deletion (so we can restore it on request). Mortgage and lead inquiries are retained for up to 24 months for bank-side audit and dispute handling.
7. Children
AddisRealty is not directed at children under 18 and we do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Updates
We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Material changes will be announced on the homepage and (for registered users) by SMS or email at least 7 days before they take effect.
